Koh Phi Phi History
Koh Phi Phi has been populated by sea gypsies for 100s of years. It was a popular haunt for Andaman Sea pirates and traders.
In the 1940's permanant villages and coconut plantation was established on the island.
During the 1970s-1990s Swedish and Dannish divers kept Koh Phi Phi as a closely held secret paradise on Earth.
In 1999 the movie The Beach put Phi Phi on the international map.
In 2004 the tsunami hit
In 2005 most of the island had been cleaned up and much of the destryed resorts replaced.
